AI prompt to prep job interview answers
AI prompt to prep job interview answers from a job ad. Paste the posting and your notes. Get questions they'll ask and answers you can say.
I have an interview. I need answers I can actually say.
Job ad: [PASTE THE JOB AD]
Me: [PASTE CV, NOTES, OR A MESSY PARAGRAPH ABOUT WHAT YOU'VE DONE]
The bit I hope they skip: [GAP, SHORT STINT, CAREER CHANGE, NO DEGREE, OR SKIP]
Give me:
1. The 8 questions this job ad is basically asking, in plain wording.
2. For each one, a spoken answer in my kind of English. Short. If I didn't give you a fact, write [I NEED TO FILL THIS IN] instead of inventing it.
3. Two questions I should ask them at the end. Not "what's the culture like."
Don't write "I'm passionate." Don't write "I thrive in." If a sentence sounds like LinkedIn, cut it.
How to use
- Paste the real job ad. A one-line job title is not enough.
- Leave your notes messy. The prompt works better on facts than on a polished CV.
- Read the answers out loud. If you wouldn't say a line to a person, ask for a different one.
Tips
- Fill every [I NEED TO FILL THIS IN] before Thursday. That's the homework.
- If the answers still sound stiff, paste one back and say "this one, but like I talk."
Example output
Question
"Tell me about a time you dealt with a messy process."
Spoken answer
"Yeah, the ticket queue was a mess. The angry ones just sat there. I started taking those and we changed how we routed them. I don't have the exact number in front of me. [I NEED TO FILL THIS IN]"
Ask them
"You mention response time in the ad. What does a bad week look like on that number right now?"
