Bad (do not do this): "I'm a results-driven professional who thrives in fast-paced environments."
Good (this kind of thing): "I've been doing customer support at a travel company for four years. I started taking the angry tickets nobody wanted. I'm interested in this role because you're hiring someone to fix the queue."
No "I'm passionate." No "I thrive in." Just how I'd talk if I wasn't nervous.
How to use
- Time yourself saying version 1. If you run long, use version 2.
- Swap [HOW LONG I GET] if they said the intro is short.
- If it still sounds written, paste it back and say "cut the clever bits."
Tips
- Practice only this opener until you can say it without looking at the screen.
- Stop after the last sentence. Don't tack on "and yeah, that's me."
